Children change too slowly to notice day to day and too fast to believe in hindsight. A day-by-day film is the only format that shows both at once, and you have almost certainly already shot the footage for it.
The change is only visible in sequence
Any single clip of a two-year-old looks like a clip of a two-year-old. Three hundred of them in order look like a year of growing up: the walk steadies, the sentences lengthen, the face reorganises itself.
That effect needs consistency more than quality. A shaky ten-second clip of breakfast does more work in the sequence than a carefully composed portrait.
Parents already film enough
The average parent’s camera roll has video on far more days than they would guess. Dayjavu’s date-range import surfaces exactly which days those are, so building a year is a matter of choosing rather than shooting.
