Dayjavu is a video diary app built on a single rule: one day, one video. It reads the footage already in your photo library, lays it out as a calendar, and turns whatever you choose into a continuous film of the period.

How it works

Choose a date range and Dayjavu scans your library for every day inside it that contains video, filtering by orientation if you want a consistently portrait or landscape result. It reports how many days it found and fills in a calendar, one tile per day.

You then move through the days, choosing which clip represents each one and where its excerpt begins. Set a length between one and five seconds, name the compilation, and export.

What makes it different

Most video diary apps are capture tools: they ask you to film something today, and the archive only starts from the day you installed them. Dayjavu is an assembly tool. It assumes the footage already exists, which, for anyone who has owned a phone for a few years, it does.

That changes what the app is for. Instead of committing to a habit, you are recovering years that are already sitting on the device.
