A wedding generates a strange amount of footage across several days, most of it short, handheld and unglamorous in a way the official film deliberately is not. That is precisely why it is worth keeping: it is the only record of what the week actually felt like.

Working with guests’ footage

Ask guests to AirDrop their clips before everyone scatters. It is far easier on the day than a month later. Once the clips are in your photo library they carry their original dates, so they land on the correct day of the calendar automatically, whoever shot them.

Because Dayjavu works from creation dates rather than from when a file was added, footage collected weeks afterwards still sorts itself correctly.

Keep it short enough to send

Two to three seconds per day works well for a wedding week, where individual moments need slightly longer to read than a normal day does. A five-day span lands comfortably under a minute. Short enough that people watch it to the end and forward it on.
